Does a space renewal really mean changing everything?
The most efficient change found within constraints — knowing what not to change is also design.
The renewal of Tous les Jours’ flagship store began with three constraints: H-beams that could not be demolished, facade floor area ratio restrictions, and a tight construction timeline.
Rather than viewing these challenges as limitations,
we treated them as design cues. Instead of changing everything, we focused on the key elements that define a brand‘s first impression — one of which was the facade.
The H-beam structure was not an obstacle to be removed, but repurposed as a focal element of the facade. Dressed in the new B.I. color, it was transformed into a casual yet modern impression.
After reviewing three design concepts, the horizontally extended layout was selected — connecting three brands, Tous les Jours, VIPS, and A Twosome Place, under a single unified facade, elevating the overall presence of the entire store.
